BUSINESS CASE

A proof of concept for the Open Industrial Marketplace has been developed in collaboration with a network of transportation device manufacturers. This demonstration showcases the solution's potential to customers. 

Traditionally, companies have treated supply chains as proprietary assets, avoiding sharing with others. Combined with just-in-time inventory practices, this approach has proven vulnerable to disruptions since 2019, including the COVID-19 pandemic, extreme weather events, transportation accidents, and geopolitical uncertainties. 

While some companies have attempted to create internal material exchange platforms, these solutions have failed due to complex partner integration and restricted supply chain visibility. 

The COMPASS project proposes a federation of independent factories connected through APIs. Integrating semantics and ontology can automate integration processes. AI/ML strategies will support complex optimization to meet business KPIs, enhancing resilience and Sustainability.
